Clark County Public Health, Green Schools Outreach Coord

Clark County Green Schools works with all local public and private schools in their sustainability efforts. We encourage environmental leadership and give students tools to implement change in their schools. Clark County Green Schools helps schools keep trash from landfills as we work to reduce waste, send more items to be recycled, and compost leftover food. Our team works with school to assess the best intervention and provide education, resources and containers to make the effort successful. Clark County Green Schools has come up with a cafeteria sort table system complete with picture signage to walk students through the line to properly separate their liquids, recyclables, wasted food and trash. We provide education and support to ensure students adopt the change and have the highest chance of being successful. This service member is an integral part of this lunch recycling and composting system, reaching out to schools daily to give them the support they need. We incorporate Share Tables in our sort table systems, where students can place their unwanted items for others to take and eat rather than throwing them out. Some schools even donate uneaten items to their local food bank. This member will be a part of food recovery efforts Clark County Green Schools provides other educational opportunities for students and staff, free field trips, workshops, assemblies, and in class education. This position is contingent on funding. Applications will be reviewed in the order in which they are received with interviews taking place until placement is filled.
