PAVE New Haven- Artspace Inc.
Artspace, Inc is seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA Member to serve as Youth and Community Engagement Developer through the PAVE New Haven AmeriCorps VISTA Project. This PAVE VISTA Member will help develop Artspace’s capacity to engage underserved youth to develop the academic, cultural, job and life skills they will need to succeed. The mission of Artspace is three fold: to catalyze artistic activities; connect contemporary artists, audiences, and resources; and to enrich art experiences and activate art spaces. PAVE (Projects Advancing Vitality and Equity) New Haven is an AmeriCorps VISTA project dedicated to furthering educational equity and financial empowerment in New Haven, CT. PAVE VISTA members serve full-time with partner organizations around the city of New Haven, focused on furthering these goals. PAVE assignments promote youth empowerment, financial literacy, and access to educational opportunities and support by building the capacity of organizations to improve and expand programs, increase effectiveness, and create sustainable solutions. PAVE VISTA members receive ongoing support from our staff and VISTA Leaders, and participate in monthly PAVE cohort meetings and service events. We encourage our VISTAs to take advantage of the professional development opportunities we provide, and to pursue additional opportunities of interest that enhance their VISTA experience. Member Duties : Help Artspace expand its capacity to harness opportunities within the Arts sector to boost academic and pre-professional success among low-income teens. Development of a Youth Engagement Platform will enhance youth development programming at Artspace, including systems for coordination and recruitment of under-served youth through New Haven Public Schools (NHPS), individual schools, educators and parent advocates. The VISTA will help establish a Resource Council comprised of NHPS stakeholders and program alumni as well as identify peer cultural organizations interested in building a Youth/NHPS consortium to promote engagement and collaboration. The VISTA will also develop a Community Engagement platform, consisting of outreach systems and partnerships with community organizations in order to spread the word about the youth and volunteer programs, including development of targeted marketing materials, newsletter, and contact database.
