WACC – WWU Cordata Elementary School Enrichment Coordinator
 
 
 
The VISTA member will institutionalize the Collective Impact Partnership with the goal of sustaining our commitment to providing essential academic, social-emotional and nutritional services to some of the most economically disadvantaged K-12 youth in our community. The Collective Impact is a partnership between Western Washington University’s Woodring College of Education, Bdellingham Public Schools, and Sterling Meadows. This position will serve at Cordata Elementary School, a Title I school with a diverse student population. The primary function of this position will be to support academic development for K-5th grade students in after-school educational enrichment opportunities and support college student service-learners who provide these services. The VISTA member joins the statewide Washington Campus Compact VISTA team whose members increase the capacity of campus-community partnerships by leveraging campus resources and community assets to address the critical issues of education access and food security. Washington Campus Compact is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our national service programs. Member Duties : The VISTA member will institutionalize the project for long-term sustainability and success: 1) Formalize a sustainable plan for after-school programs, including volunteer orientation tools, tracking, surveys, and curriculum, 2) Assess data from service-learners and teaching candidates to provide program recommendations, 3) Partner with school staff to create tools to identify and support at-risk students in need of behavioral and academic interventions, 4) Partner with Bellingham Public Schools to identify and secure funding for nutrition program for in-school and after-school programming.
