WACC – WWU LinCS Coordinator
The LinCS Coordinator VISTA member will advance the work of the Western Washington University’s Woodring College of Education (WCE) Learning in Community and Schools (LinCS) by coordinating well-organized and meaningful service-learning opportunities for Woodring teacher candidates and other college students while deepening WCE’s commitment to offering strong field based experiences to teacher candidates. The LinCS program provides essential academic and social-emotional services to some of the most economically disadvantaged K-12 youth in Bellingham. The VISTA member joins the statewide Washington Campus Compact VISTA team whose members increase the capacity of campus-community partnerships by leveraging campus resources and community assets to address the critical issues of education access and food security. Washington Campus Compact is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our national service programs. Member Duties : The VISTA member will institutionalize the project for long-term sustainability and success: 1) Streamline intake and tracking processes for service-learners and teaching candidates, 2) Analyze pre/post survey data for program recommendations, 3) Collaborate with other service-learning/community-based learning programs on campus to create uniform goals and outcomes, 4) Coordinate regular networking meetings between Woodring faculty and community partners, 5) Secure funding for full-time LinCS position, 6) Facilitate LinCS AmeriCorps cohort for project collaboration and resource sharing.
