WACC – WCC Youth Connections Coordinator
 
 
 
Whatcom Community College’s Youth Connections VISTA project aims to increase the number of disengaged, low-income youth that have access to college in Bellingham and Whatcom County. The VISTA member joins the statewide Washington Campus Compact VISTA team whose members increase the capacity of campus-community partnerships by leveraging campus resources and community assets to address the critical issues of education access and food security. Washington Campus Compact is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our national service programs. People of color, LGBTQ individuals, persons with disabilities, and veterans are encouraged to apply.

Member Duties : In Year 2, he VISTA member will grow the capacity of the project: 1) Create a handbook for mentors in order to prepare them for working with disengaged youth. Handbook will include research articles, community assessment, testimonials from former mentors and mentees in similar programs 2) Develop workshop series offerings. 3) Recruit, train, and evaluate mentors. 4) Implement and evaluate mentorship program, and 5) Evaluate effectiveness of youth mentoring program.
