FIT VISTA - Diversity Coordinator VISTA

Kroka Expeditions is a wilderness school for young people based on a year-round, organic farm in Marlow, NH. We believe that the consciousness and altruistic will that lives in all people can be brought forth through a living relationship with the natural world and by taking our places within the circle of community. Our classroom is one without walls, where learning is alive and lessons are real. We embrace risk, we welcome discomfort, and we experience the vulnerability that arises with challenge and interdependency. In doing so, we have the opportunity to shed the layers between ourselves and the world, and to wake up to what it is to be fully human. The Kroka staff community is a diverse group of people from all ages and backgrounds who share a commitment to living simply and purposefully while working together to share skills, knowledge, and values in a transformative way through high-quality outdoor education programs. Our staff community shares the work of taking care of the farm in addition to working in the office and teaching children in the outdoors. In 2016 Kroka passed a resolution to redirect our energy toward diversity and inclusion in wilderness programming. We recognize that in a rapidly changing world, we have a responsibility to stand up for the rights of the Earth and all human beings. The Diversity Coordinator will join our hardworking staff team to carry out a strategic plan focused on improving the diversity and cultural competency of our staff and student body. In doing so we will begin changing the status quo of cultural competency and inclusion in outdoor education. We offer a sliding scale fee, financial aid to all in need, we have great equipment and we pay people well. How can a small organization afford this? We work hard, we work until all gets done, and we get more done with fewer people.
