WACC – SCC STEM Project Coordinator

The STEM Coordinator will strengthen and expand a coordinated system of science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) resources and partnerships available to student members of the Math, Engineering, Science, Achievement (MESA) Program at Seattle Central College. In Year 1 of the project, the VISTA member will work towards expanding our reach to STEM industries, alumni, and universities with the intent on finding diverse role models and mentors who would create internship experiences for low-income, underrepresented community college students. As a result, students will develop the confidence needed to persist in STEM fields and develop a strong industry network, thus making them employable in lucrative STEM fields. The VISTA member joins the statewide Washington Campus Compact VISTA team whose members increase the capacity of campus-community partnerships by leveraging campus resources and community assets to address critical issues of education access and food security. Washington Campus Compact is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our national service programs. People of color, LGBTQ individuals, persons with disabilities, and veterans are encouraged to apply.
