This AmeriCorps position is based at the University of Maine at Presque Isle, located in spectacular Aroostook County in Northern Maine. UMPI offers a liberal arts curriculum and professional programs to students from the region and beyond, including many from neighboring Canada. The city of Presque Isle serves as an educational and cultural hub for the region, featuring countless recreational opportunities. The UMPI VISTA Member will work with several campus entities and the external partners (primary and secondary schools) to expand College Access programs to low-income populations through many collaborative initiatives.

Member Duties : • Help strengthen and maintain relationships with partner high schools on early college initiatives • Work with the Interim Dean of Students on various Proficiency-Based Education initiatives designated to transition students from secondary to higher education. • Play an active role in supporting the University's multicultural competency initiatives and student civic engagement programs • Develop and prepare Aspirations Orientations at the UMPI campus and Houlton Center for Fall and Spring semesters • Develop methodology and process for implementing an Early Alert/Intervention program for increasing student retention and success • Assess and develop formalized process of Academic Coaching program of online-courses • Evaluate prior year data and continue building and developing the Leadership Enhancement and Development Retreat (LEADR) Program • Develop and create outreach and marketing materials for college access and success programs
