Mill City Grows' Volunteer Engagement and Evaluation VISTA

Mill City Grows’ mission is to improve physical health, economic independence and environmental sustainability in Lowell through increased access to land, locally grown food and education. MCG’s two main program areas are Food Access and Food Education. Our education programs create the conditions needed to grow food justice and food access in Lowell. Our programming is designed to: 1) Grow healthier communities and home eating and cooking habits; 2) Grow healthier school curricula, cafeterias and healthier kids; and 3) Continue to make Lowell a more sustainable environment and eliminate food deserts throughout the City. Our work in Food Justice is rooted in the idea that a well-educated community will make healthier choices. MCG is recruiting a Volunteer Engagement and Evaluation (VEE) VISTA to build our capacity in volunteer engagement and evaluation systems. The VEE will focus on enhancing MCG’s Salesforce (SF) database, which would be used for volunteer management, evaluation data and reporting, and as a fundraising database. In year 1, the VEE VISTA would collaborate with a consultant to optimize organizational use of our SF database. This would include: streamlining data collection, evaluation, output of reports; working with an evaluation consultant to integrate forms and data collection tools to be housed in SF; creating and implementing a system for tracking number of volunteers in a year and hours they have volunteered. By year-end, the VEE VISTA would also train staff in new SF systems and work with admin staff to organize existing information in SF.
