DeltaCorps - United Way of Southeast Missouri

The goal of the Read to Excel program is to increase the reading level and reading confidence of elementary and middle school readers in the Cape Girardeau Public Schools. DeltaCorps members are critical to extending this reading program through grade 6. The Delta Corps Members (DCMs) will partner closely with United Way’s Executive Director and Read to Succeed Program Manager to help launch and manage R2X. DCMs will receive additional support and guidance from the R2S team, employees of the schools, and experienced R2S volunteers. Both programs are driven by volunteers who meet with students outside of the classroom to guide them through the structured reading program. With help and direction from the R2SPM and team, the DCMs will be responsible for promoting their program to the schools and community, helping to engage and train the volunteers who are critical to the program’s success, helping to obtain and organize reading materials, tracking and reporting participants’ progress and outcomes, maintaining records, and serving as a key contact with administration, teachers, and other R2X stakeholders.
