Multi-Service Center Employment & Education Support Spec.
 
 
 
This project will address five needs in our community: 1) Adult Basic Education skills through small classroom instruction or one-on-one tutoring, GED preparation and improving English skills in order to increase workplace readiness; 2) Job Placement training, soft skills instruction to prepare customers for employment, financial literacy training, and technology skills instruction; 3) Supporting volunteers and building volunteer capacity in Federal Way, Kent, Renton, and Auburn. 4) Job Search assistance provided to disadvantaged youth and young adults ages 16- 24 to assist them in developing their job readiness skills for employment opportunities. 5) HEART (Homeless Education to Achieve Readiness for Tomorrow), a literacy program for homeless children living in MSC's Family Shelter. Applications will be reviewed in the order in which they are received with interviews taking place until placement is filled.

Member Duties : Recruit, support and manage education volunteer tutors. Teach Adult Basic Education skills such as: GED, English language, reading, writing, math, etc.; Job readiness training, Soft skills instruction, Technology skills instruction, Financial literacy training. Lead the after-school literacy program for homeless children living in MSC's Family Shelter. Maintain current working knowledge of risk factors, barriers, and cultural competencies facing economically disadvantaged populations. Encourage persistence and retention among participants. Support participants in staying educationally engaged and working towards life goals and skill development. Provide support to participants through resource and referral to other programs and agencies. Support participants in reducing employment and education barriers.
