Nisqually Land Trust, Volunteer Coordinator
As the Nisqually Land Trust Volunteer Coordinator, the AmeriCorps member will engage community members as volunteers in outreach, stewardship, and habitat restoration activities that support the Land Trust’s mission. The Land Trust is a local non-profit organization that acquires and manages critical lands to permanently benefit the water, wildlife, and people of the Nisqually River Watershed, which stretches from Mt. Rainier to the South Puget Sound. The AmeriCorps member will typically serve a standard weekday schedule; however, the member will be expected to participate in 1-2 weekend volunteer or outreach activities each month. The primary service location will be at the Land Trust office in Olympia. Stewardship activities will occur on Land Trust properties throughout the watershed, and outreach events will occur throughout the South Puget Sound region. This position is contingent on funding. Applications will be reviewed in the order in which they are received with interviews taking place until placement is filled.

Member Duties : Member will recruit volunteers using a variety of techniques: email invitations, web-based volunteer databases, outreach at local & regional events; train & support volunteers taking part in community outreach & environmental stewardship activities; develop & implement volunteer procedures and training workshops; host volunteer recognition event; & maintain volunteer records. The member will also assist in land management & habitat restoration activities, including noxious weed control, native plantings, & site monitoring visits. Our member serves to connect the local community with the Nisqually Land Trust’s mission of land protection and habitat restoration. Member must be self-motivated, highly organized, & able to collaborate on multiple tasks. The ideal member has good record-keeping skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office software, good communication skills, experience in volunteer administration, & an interest in natural resources management and environmental science.
