E3.17 Comfort Systems Energy Conservation Technician
 
 
 
Purpose of Position: Participate as a member of the City of Duluth Public Utility to develop, track and implement natural gas conservation measures in low income multifamily housing. Specific Duties: 1. Develop heating conservation program for smaller multifamily housing units (4 or less) 2. Gather historical data on natural gas usage for smaller MFHU’s 3. Establish relationships with landlord associations and gain feedback 4. Develop programs that address the split incentive issue 5. Track use of programs and results 6. Adjust programs as needed 7. Develop relationships with possible outside funding sources for conservation programs Job Relationships External: 1. Work with focus groups and Boards and Commissions related to policy development and implementation 2. Work with community to develop relationships 3. Develop relationships across City of Duluth departments Internal: 1. Work with employees of Public Utilities to develop skills and set goals for the VISTA position 2. Supervised by the Customer Service Manager with support from team leads 3. Will provide and receive support from other participating VISTAs, including training, in-service opportunities and community programming. Qualifications Required 1. Interest in area of conservation 2. Interest in working with low income housing individuals 3. Ability to develop relationships with multiple stakeholders 4. Use of Microsoft Suite as well as programs specific to the Public Utilities 5. Organizational skills, attention to details 6. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations 7. Interpersonal and communication skills 8. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team 9. Familiarity with issues of low income families 10. Bachelor’s degree or higher Hours per Week: 40

Member Duties : To address energy and resource poverty the Big Water Resilience Corps VISTA project will build the capacity of ComfortSystems to provide resources to economically disadvantaged households by expanding partnerships and developing a new household energy conservation program. 1. Align utility program & services with other low-income service providers to create seamless service for those experiencing difficulty in obtaining or paying for basic services. a. Expand partnerships with community organizations that can assist economically disadvantaged household at-risk of utility shut-off with financial counseling, energy efficiency improvements, & emergency resources. b. Develop a communications plan for conservation resources and financial services for low-income community members. 2. Develop a comprehensive conservation program targeted at low-income households (single, multi-family, renter, owner) in energy to alleviate energy poverty, utility shut-offs, and condemnation.
