E3.17 Comfort Systems Water Conservation Technician
 
 
 
Purpose of Position: Participate as a member of the City of Duluth Public Utility to develop, track and implement water conservation measures to aid residents in reducing use and limit shut-offs to low-income residents. Specific Duties: 1. Review current water conservation measures. 2. Track historic water loss 3. Learn about industry standards for conservation programs relative to water 4. Develop new water conservation programs to address losses 5. Develop new water conservation programs to engage customers in water conservation Job Relationships External: 1. Work with focus groups and Boards and Commissions related to policy development and implementation 2. Work with community to develop relationships 3. Develop relationships across City of Duluth departments Internal: 1. Work with employees of Public Utilities to develop skills and set goals for the VISTA position 2. Supervised by the Customer Service Manager with support from team leads 3. Will provide and receive support from other participating VISTAs, including training, in-service opportunities and community programming. Qualifications Required 1. Interest in area of water conservation. 2. Use of Microsoft Suite as well as programs specific to the Public Utilities 3. Organizational skills, attention to details 4. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations 5. Interpersonal and communication skills 6. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team 7. Familiarity with issues of low income families 8. Bachelor’s degree or higher Hours per Week: 40

Member Duties : In order to address energy and resource poverty the Big Water Resilience Corps VISTA project will build the capacity of ComfortSystems to provide resources to economically disadvantaged households by expanding partnerships and developing a new household water conservation program. 1. Align utility program and services with other low-income service providers to create seamless service for those experiencing difficulty in obtaining or paying for basic services. 2. Develop a comprehensive conservation program targeted at low-income households (single, multi-family, renter, owner) in energy to alleviate energy poverty, utility shut-offs, and condemnation.
