Thriving Neighborhoods

The Neighborhood Preservation Coalition of New York State(NPCNYS) is a statewide membership organization of community-based, not-for-profit housing companies and other interested parties committed to revitalizing New York State’s neighborhoods. Located in Albany, NY, NPCNYS provides technical assistance to help groups with issues such as organizational development, strategic planning, contract compliance, and community assessments to its 143 Neighborhood Preservation Companies (NPCs), which are located in urban and suburban communities throughout New York State. If you have served at least one year as a VISTA, and you want to continue to develop your leadership skills, NPCNYS encourages you to apply for this position. The Thriving Neighborhoods VISTA members will help create and deliver outreach plans and campaigns in historically underserved, low-and moderate-income communities throughout New York State. The program seeks to increase the capacity of Neighborhood Preservation Companies (NPCs) in order to increase housing and economic opportunities to neighborhood residents served by the NPCs. In addition to working on outreach plan and campaign development, VISTAs will identify partnership and collaboration opportunities and help with grant writing. NPCNYS is recruiting one VISTA Leader to work with our program staff in developing resources, providing training, and developing a strong network among VISTA members placed throughout the state. The VISTA Leader will primarily focus on development and provision of project specific resources and training to members. The VISTA Leader will also facilitate communication and networking among members, helping to develop the Thriving Neighborhoods program identity.
