Tribal VISTA: Organ Mountain Desert Peaks
 
 
 
The goal of the Community Education and Outreach VISTA is to build connectivity to diverse communities in Southern New Mexico to our public lands, specifically our National Conservation Lands, Organ Mountains Desert Peaks. This position will strengthen the Friends of Organ Mountains Desert Peaks capacity to serve our community through working with partners and organizations to achieve our organization mission.

Member Duties : The VISTA will positively impact the community by working with diverse organizations including schools, management agencies, business and partners to strengthen our program and education and outreach delivery. The VISTA will coordinate education and outreach efforts for restoration both through partnerships with local K-12 programs and through community at-large programming, open to any stakeholder who may benefits from such programming. The implementation of these extended educational and conservation based opportunities will require the VISTA to work closely with park staff and the park’s Friends group through strategic program development, grant writing, member engagement and development, by working with diverse partners to form strong coalitions. The VISTA will also extend the community outreach to area Tribal groups and communities, ensuring any community learning opportunities and experiences include all members of the community in a collaborative way.
