NYC VISTA-Division of Preventive Services (NYC ACS)
 
 
 
The ACS Division of Preventive Services provides Preventive Services and support to families throughout New York City, through a network of community-based, non-profit organizations and family home care services. These services which include evidence-based preventive services are designed to strengthen and stabilize families, prevent the need for out of home care, expedite permanency and prevent the replacement of children into foster care. The goals of preventive services are to: 1) provide services when a family children and youth with a variety of educational, medical, mental health and developmental challenges; 2) strengthen parental/family functioning; 3) help keep families together when children can be safely kept at home; 4) support families when children return from foster care; AND 5) prevent child abuse and neglect The Division of Preventive Services, Operations and Systems (OPS) continue to build capacity and strategies to implement, maintain and sustain initiatives and projects in support of families and children in NYC communities. OPS is also responsible for efficiency of essential systems used by provider staff such as PROMIS and Connections. In addition, the OPS provides policy guidance to Children’s Services’ staff and preventive provider agencies working with children and youth with a variety of educational, medical, mental health and developmental challenges.

Member Duties : The NYC VISTA member would have a role in supporting Operations & Systems with the implementation of new initiatives. The VISTA will collect data and feedback from ACS staff, provider agencies, and communities to add insight into program utilization and ongoing service needs. The member would also support ACS in tracking systemic functions and trends such as staffing capacity at preventive service programs. The VISTA member will research and propose ways to improve coordination among stakeholders and engage communities in the process. NYC VISTA member assignments include: 1. Plan, implement, and evaluate new initiatives; 2. Engage communities in the process; 3. Research ways to improve collaboration among the various stakeholders; 4. Utilize database for tracking trends.
