Fund Development and Volunteer Recruitment Specialist - AEDS
 
 
 
AEDS assists African immigrants gain financial independence. Through micro-entrepreneurship training, homeownership education, and technical assistance for existing small business owners, AEDS builds sustainable economic success in the communities we serve. AEDS is currently developing the “Little Africa” brand, a network of African owned businesses and artists. Through Little Africa, our goal is to increase the visibility of African owned businesses and African artists within Minnesota. We have accomplished this by hosting arts and culture events within Little Africa businesses. Our work in the community has won several awards. Our VISTA will lead our fund development and volunteer recruitment efforts. As the Fund Development and Volunteer Recruitment VISTA, you will develop strategies to make our organization more effective in the work we do. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, you will work on developing and executing fund development strategies. By cultivating substantial relationships with foundations and donors and maximizing our manpower through leveraging volunteers and our networks within the arts and small business communities, you’ll have the unique opportunity to take our organization’s impact to the next level. This position will give you hands-on experience with developing creative strategies to steer our dynamic non-profit towards sustainability.

Member Duties : Development of Grants Calendar (20%) • Identify grants for AEDS to apply for • Create a calendar of grants for AEDS • Create a system to categorize the types of grants // Fund Development Planning (30%) • Design fund development plan • Establish annual fundraising plan • Develop individual giving program • Coordinate donor database development • Develop templates for important documents // Event Planning (20%) • Plan and implement fundraising event and program development, including: o Goals of the Event o Creating and managing an event budget o Creation of agenda o Managing attendee list o Securing venue, vendors , speakers/artists, auction items, emcee // Volunteer Recruitment (20%) • Develop volunteer policy manual • Create job description for the volunteer responsibilities • Research other volunteer strategies • Develop recruitment, training and orientation manual • Supervise volunteers // Other duties as assigned (10%)
