'20-'21 Underserved Pops. & Resource VISTA - MHAGC
 
 
 
Are you ready to fight poverty and make a huge and lasting impact on the lives of residents of Upstate South Carolina? For over 64 years, Mental Health America of Greenville County (MHAGC) has been promoting positive mental health across the region. Recent assessments of low-income adults indicate that limited access to mental health services and the growing opioid epidemic are two of the greatest concerns in the county. The Underserved Populations & Resource Database VISTA will build and strengthen partnerships with community organizations working with traditionally underserved populations who may be especially vulnerable to dual diagnoses of opioid use disorder and mental illness. This individual will build strong relationships with faith-based organizations. This person will create and implement systems allowing for the organization's 24/7 crisis hotline programs to have current information pertaining to thousands of community organizations. These hotlines are often utilized by individuals living in poverty. Greenville, South Carolina continues to receive national and international recognition for its southern charm, opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts, arts scene, sports culture, and cuisine. Greenville has been lauded by The New York Times as one of the 52 cities in the world to visit, by USA Today as one of the ten best emerging destinations, and as one of America’s ten best downtowns for its combination of revitalized commercial and park space. Greenville is located at the base of the Blue Ridge mountains. **This position is eligible for an annual housing stipend of $600 paid to the landlord monthly/quarterly and for a membership to a specific gym facility.

Member Duties : This position is based at MHAGC in Greenville, SC. This individuals will strengthen partnerships with community organizations working with traditionally underserved populations who may be especially vulnerable to dual diagnoses of opioid misuse and mental illness. This role will focus on improving the organization's communication, outreach, and prevention processes for these populations.
