2019 Summer UCA - UCAN Foodbank Food Hero
 
 
 
United Communities AmeriCorps (UCAmeriCorps) engages members in meaningful service designed to meet critical community needs in Coos, Curry, Douglas, Jackson and Josephine counties in Southern Oregon. UCAmeriCorps partners with community-based organizations, government agencies and schools to address local community needs in the areas of education and other human needs. We are currently recruiting summer members for UCAmeriCorps positions in Southwest Oregon that are 300 hours in length, with members earning an education award. Member Duties : Serving roughly 25 hrs/week, the AmeriCorps member will help facilitate our Food Hero at the Farmers' Market program. This program, provided in partnership with the local OSU Extension Service, provides a fun opportunity for children to engage in their local food system through conversations directly with farmers, educational games and demonstrations, and exposure to new fruits and vegetables. Kids receive passports which are stamped as activities are completed, and receive prizes supporting their healthy choices. The member will also serve in support of other nutrition education programs sponsored by the UCAN Food Bank.
