Summer Literacy Associates

The goal of this project is to prevent summer learning loss and increase access to tools and resources for children in low-income communities, particularly youth not typically involved in out of school programs. These summer positions will work with youth, primarily in grades K-8, who eat breakfast and/or lunch at free summer meal sites in urban and rural areas of Spokane County. They will also expand capacity for summer programs at libraries, basketball courts and community organizations to offer fun and engaging activities that support literacy.
