Mentor Program Coordinator - Wytheville CC Talent Search

Serve as a VISTA Member with the Virginia Mentoring Partnership (VMP)! VMP is a statewide organization focused on the expansion of research based, high-quality mentoring in Virginia. Our vision that every child who needs a mentor has a mentor. VISTA Members will help further our mission is to provide training and technical assistance to mentors and mentoring programs to increase the quality and quantity of mentoring for Virginia's youth. As a VMP VISTA member, you will join our team of full-time VISTA members serving throughout Virginia. Our VISTA members serve with partner organizations to support each organization's internal capacity focusing on: Program Development, Volunteer Recruitment, Mentor/Mentee Training, Match Support, and Resource Development. During your year of service, you will be serving with Wytheville Community College in Wytheville, VA to support the development of mentoring programs at that organization.

Member Duties : The WCC Talent Search mandate is to assist low-income first generation middle and high school students obtain access to post-secondary educational opportunities. This position will be instrumental in the development and implementation of a research based quality mentoring program. The MPC responsibilities will include: development of the mentor-training curriculum, recruitment, screening and orientation of potential mentors, and create and implement match support platform. They MPC will work closely with VMP and WCC to ensure best practices in mentoring program operations are planned and implemented.
