Adelante Hispanic Achievers Community Outreach VISTA

Adelante Hispanic Achievers was created to address challenges in the city by empowering Louisville’s Hispanic youth and helping them succeed in four critical areas of development: personal, social, cultural, and educational. Adelante’s mission is to inspire Hispanic/Latino youth and families to achieve their dreams and contribute as creative and educated world citizens. The 2010 Census states that 4.4% of Jefferson County’s population is Hispanic/Latino, with a 163% increase since 2000. In our county, 26% of Hispanic/Latinos do not have a high school degree, 37.1% live in poverty, and 30% are linguistically isolated. Adelante’s mission is to inspire Hispanic/Latino youth and families to achieve their dreams and to contribute as creative, informed world citizens. The Adelante AmeriCorps VISTA will focus on Resource Development and Volunteers, joining our 2-person staff to strengthen services to over 135 Hispanic students and their families by improving organization infrastructure.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will raise Adelante's revenue and visibility in the community through fundraising efforts and by attending community events as a representative of the organization. Adelante recently underwent a rebranding and the VISTA will support implementation of the brand standards. The VISTA will also work to increase Adelante's capacity to recruit, manage, and maintain volunteers for the After School Programs and Saturday Program. The VISTA will assess student achievement outcomes and program effectiveness, implementing interventions as needed.
