Development Specialist - AIFC

The American Indian Family Center (AIFC) was established in 1996. Our vision is the help American Indian families thrive! Our mission is to provide American Indian families programs and services enriched by traditional American Indian values and culture, fully engaging all facets of this community to build on the strength of its traditions and its potential. The AIFC accomplishes its vision and mission through integrated, culturally specific programs that incorporate the medicine wheel (mental, physical, emotional and spiritual components) to address the needs of families. Programs address employment, youth and family services and mental and chemical health support. AIFC is looking to enhance its protocol for managing recruiting, training, supporting and retaining volunteers and interns to support the programs and services provided to families we serve. There are numerous opportunities for volunteers and interns at AIFC and assistance is greatly needed to assist staff with enhancing these critical services. In addition, it has become apparent through the work of staff in the community that public awareness of AIFC is relatively minimal. As a result, marketing, communications, fundraising, outreach and engagement efforts are needed to support initial and ongoing partner and donor connections and fiscal support.

Member Duties : As Development Specialist, you will perform a wide range of duties that will strengthen AIFC’s organizational systems in four main areas: Fundraising and development, communications and marketing, volunteer recruitment and training, and community engagement. Your evaluation of these critical organizational systems in collaboration with AIFC staff members will help determine the best strategic approach for AIFC to build internal capacity to carry out it’s mission. Once plans are in place, you will lead the charge to implement these projects by creating key documents, refining processes, providing creative social media content, recruiting and managing volunteers, nurturing external relationships, and spearheading projects involving multiple staff members. Finally, this project incorporates sustainability measures to ensure the knowledge and products you create are transferred to AIFC staff and have a lasting impact on our organization long after your VISTA year has ended.
