2017 Tutoring Support Coordinator (826 LA)
 
 
 
826 National will work with AmeriCorps*VISTA members to build the organization’s capacity to serve under-resourced students (ages 6-18) in seven urban areas across the country where we have writing/tutoring centers and provide homework assistance (San Francisco, Ann Arbor/Detroit, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Boston, Chicago and New York). Additionally, 826 National will deploy AmeriCorps*VISTA members to work directly in our centers to provide for the sustainability of volunteer recruitment, training, and retention efforts; conduct development activities, and support in-school and on-site program and program expansion efforts to provide field trips, scholarships and summer programs for under-resourced youth.

Member Duties : VISTA member will develop system to identify and address students' writing interests to increase student engagement/enrollment in reading and writing programs. Analyze and assess program evaluations to inform the creation of lesson plans, student engagement strategies, and assessing program development. Member will also improve upon reading, writing, and program evaluations and tracking. Improve upon Local Advisory Councils.
