2017 826 Valencia Development and Events Coordinator
 
 
 
826 National will work with Corps 18 volunteers to build the organization’s capacity to work with underserved youth in order to develop essential writing and creative thinking skills that lead to academic success. Corps 18 volunteers will support volunteer recruitment, program development, and organizational capacity building in seven different writing and tutoring centers located in seven urban areas across the country (San Francisco, Ann Arbor/Detroit, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Boston, Chicago, and New York). Additionally, 826 National will deploy AmeriCorps*VISTA members to work directly in our centers to provide for the sustainability of volunteer recruitment, training, and retention efforts; conduct development activities, and support in-school and on-site program and program expansion efforts to broaden access for under-resourced students in these cities.

Member Duties : Implement best practices for archiving and maintaining our database to ensure continued funding of 826 Valencia’s free writing and tutoring programs. Research, identify, and recommend strategies to build awareness about the writing and tutoring center through local community partnerships and events. Member will also coordinate event logistics for fundraising events, student celebrations, and other events as necessary, helping to raise funds and awareness in support of free literacy programs for youth.
