NYC VISTA-Youth Leadership Institute (NYC DOE)
 
 
 
Community Schools make education more relevant to help students find their passion by integrating academics, health, youth development, and family engagement. Bringing schools and partners together to create new opportunities and real results, we foster collaboration within a community to build something better for its students, its families, and its future. This VISTA position will serve to reduce chronic absenteeism at Community Schools by providing students with the training and resources necessary to be positive change-makers in their schools. One VISTA will serve with the Youth Leadership Institute to train students to be active participants in the planning dialogue and decision-making process at their school.

Member Duties : The Youth Leadership VISTA will support youth leadership training at 5 pilot high schools and create and document resources, structures and best practices associated with the program. They will expand youth leadership programming to additional Community Schools and work with schools to structure the role of students in the Community Schools Forum.
