NYC VISTA-Management Information Systems (NYC HRA)
 
 
 
In line with its mission to fight poverty and income inequality in New York City, the NYC Department of Social Services’ Human Resources Administration has recently taken steps to improve access to education and training. It has moved away from a one-size-fits-all approach toward working with clients to find opportunities that match their skills, needs, and career goals. The Career Services division has supported the transition through systems change, including a new comprehensive assessment tool to place clients on the right track. Career services will continue to leverage technology to design and streamline modules that enhance services delivery coordination between HRA and its stakeholders. The overarching goal is to increase participant engagement by providing effective activities for clients that lead to favorable employment outcomes.

Member Duties : The VISTA will work with Management Information Systems (MIS) Department, the Employment Services Systems Manager and external partners to understand vendor IT/MIS systems and how they use data as we plan for a new single interface system. The goal of the VISTA is to survey and create relationships with partners to understand their systems and their data-driven program improvement processes. The VISTA will develop a framework for universal timekeeping and client monitoring systems. Activities will include developing a survey tool, conducting site visits to observe processes, creating flowcharts, researching other case management systems, participating in design meetings, and making recommendations for new fields/functionalities of the new case management system. This service will lead directly to planning for new HRA systems.
