2017 Millikin University Financial Literacy Summer Program

The VISTA will conduct research, plan, and implement programs to support the financial literacy of our students. Approximately 50% of our student population is Pell eligible and faces substantial barriers to success- particularly in aspects of financial literacy such as budgeting, understanding federal work-study or student loans, and understanding of the value of education to prevent the transmission of poverty across generations. The ideal legacy of this position would be for this program to afford economic opportunity to more students and allow for the retention and success of first generation students and students from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
