NYC-VISTA-Public/Private Partnerships (NYC Service)

NYC Service’s public/private partnerships efforts involve the engagement of a growing network of companies dedicated to social good, and are motivated by the belief that through the private sector’s most valuable stakeholders - its employees – companies can deliver solutions to pressing socioeconomic challenges. Some of the ways in which we leverage public/private partnerships to deliver on this belief is through the Forum on Corporate Service and Employee Volunteer Engagement (co-led by Citi), which convenes companies committed to social responsibility; the CBO Corporate Service Coalition, which works with nonprofits that use corporate volunteers to meet their needs; the implementation of the Good for Me. Good for My City. campaign, which involves companies committed to increasing the number of employees engaged as volunteer mentors to high school students; the development of social responsibility resources, such as the NYC Corporate Service Look Book and Making Mission Impact: Guiding Principles for Effective Partnerships; providing capacity-building through the Strategic Pro Bono/Skills-Based Volunteering Initiative; the facilitation of partnerships between companies and nonprofits; the coordination of curated Days of Service; and the implementation of the annual Winter Volunteer Engagement Initiative (“Secret Snowflake”). The NYC VISTA member will set and meet high-target performance metrics for the implementation of the 2017 Mayor’s Office Winter Volunteer Engagement Initiative; develop a strategic plan for the scale and sustainability of the Initiative, including a systematic process for converting one-time engagements into longer term and/or more frequent public-private partnerships; and conduct NYC Service’s first-ever Needs and Resource Assessment to identify year-round opportunities for addressing resource gaps and leverage private partners to address them.
