MIGIZI Communications, organized in 1977, has as its core vision that Social Justice will be achieved for all people by honoring and acting on indigenous cultural values. Our mission is to advance a message of success, well-being and justice for the American Indian community. MIGIZI’s mission is carried out through four intersecting programs serving adolescent youth: Native Academy– Culturally-based Educational and Youth Development; Native Youth Futures– Social Entrepreneurism and Economic Independence; First Person Productions– Media Production; and Green Jobs Pathway– Green Sector Careers and Indigenous Stewardship. Ultimately, our efforts will improve the profile for American Indians in Minneapolis.

Member Duties : The MIGIZI VISTA will work closely with administrative and program staff to test the protocols for social media interaction, web content updates and management of the alumni network. This position will create a training manual to be used by future student interns for Development, Approval and Posting (DAP) of digital content. The VISTA will also work to improve communications approaches and develop high quality content in each of the three areas. • Revisit and Refine Social Media protocols, increase activity and heighten visibility in order to build further name recognition and organizational reputation. • Assist MIGIZI in updating web content to reflect current programs and activities, and generate web traffic. • Further develop our Alumni Network for alumni of MIGIZI programs to help document the long-term impact that programming has had on the lives of our participants. • Other tasks as assigned
