2017 Laywers' Committee for Better Housing
 
 
 
Lawyers’ Committee for Better Housing will provide free legal and supportive services to improve housing stability for lower income renters while advocating for the rights of all renters until everyone in Chicago has a safe, decent, and affordable place to call home. The program will help build organizational capacity and ensure sustainability through donor/resource development, community outreach, and communication/marketing in order to expand high-quality services to low-income renter families across Chicago.

Member Duties : The Development and Community Engagement VISTA will: (1) Expand and ensure the sustainability of programs to improve low-income renters’ housing stability through resource development, donor cultivation, and other fundraising efforts. (2) Increase and enhance community awareness of affordable housing and renters rights issues, as well as the availability of LCBH’s free legal and supportive services, through communication/marketing activities and direct client solicitation. (3) Increase organizational and community capacity to resolve low-income renters’ housing issues by offering technical support and data, and engaging community partners, including tenants, tenant advocates, community-based organizations, and policy makers.
