Woman to Woman Pregnancy Resource Center located in Denton, TX, empowers individuals to make wise life choices financially, sexually, and relationally through 3 programs that work together to provide assistance to women in unintended pregnancies and bring families out of poverty. Ninety percent of clients receiving services through Woman to Woman’s programs fall below the poverty line with an average annual income of $17,000. Woman to Woman’s clinic provides free medical services, including pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, prenatal care, medical follow-ups and counseling services. Woman to Woman's Living Choices program is a school-based program with the mission of educating youth, equipping parents and engaging the community with accurate facts concerning sexual health and well-being. The Twice as Nice Resale Store of Denton supports the mission of Woman to Woman. Women seeking services from Woman to Woman have the opportunity to receive new and gently used merchandise from the thrift store for themselves and their children free of charge through the Earn and Learn Program. The Volunteer Recruitment and Development VISTA will enhance the volunteer program to develop volunteer leaders. Moving volunteers to ownership of the organization will increase efficiency and resources the agency is able to offer. AmeriCorps VISTA members perform only indirect service; interaction with clients will be limited and the member will spend the majority of his or her time in an office setting. However, the Woman to Woman VISTA will play a dynamic role in ending poverty by recruiting volunteers to serve in the agency’s programs that provide essential education and free medical care to the economically disadvantaged women of Denton County, TX. As a Woman to Woman VISTA, you will be part of a cohort coordinated by the VISTA North Texas project at Chisholm Trail RSVP, Inc. Early applications are strongly encouraged. Member Duties : The Volunteer Recruitment and Development VISTA at Woman to Woman Pregnancy Resource Center will enhance the volunteer program to develop volunteer leaders. Major functions will include expanding and enhancing the volunteer program through implementation of new policy and procedure manual and continued development of a volunteer training manual, developing a volunteer management system to track volunteer activities and hours of service and developing areas to cultivate relationships with volunteers and move 12 of them to leadership positions within the organization to ensure retention and growth of the agency’s programs. The programs developed by the VISTA will endure for years, however the VISTA member will have limited interaction with Woman to Woman’s clients and will be based in an office setting. Applicants should possess strong verbal and written communication skills and computer skills. Applicants should be outgoing and be able to work independently.
