2017 Center for Changing Lives
 
 
 
The Center for Changing Lives’ (CCL) recent work, in partnership with the Emerging Markets “Meeting Halfway” Initiative, has identified that financial literacy and coaching as needs within the community. There is also a greater demand for these services than can be accommodated in-house through one on one appointments. To address capacity, CCL is building a group financial coaching program using Your Money, Your Goals (a train-the-trainer curriculum) to increase the number of households served through the program. The Housing & Financial Coach Training VISTA would ensure that a needed service is targeted to the populations identified through this process. The VISTA would strengthen the training component of CCL’s work and increase CCL’s capacity to train more community households. This position is a part of Housing Action Illinois. Housing Action Illinois aims to fight poverty and improve the lives of disadvantaged individuals by expanding and improving the availability of decent, affordable, accessible housing in Illinois. As part of the Housing Action Illinois VISTA program, members will receive professional development opportunities and gain tremendous experience in the nonprofit sector.

Member Duties : The Outreach and Engagement VISTA will: (1) Serve as program liaison to Chicago-area Continuum of Care organizations that serve individuals who are homeless, designing a system both for referrals to CCL and co-located services beween organizations. (2) Conducting outreach and recruitment activies, including community workshops, partner meetings, and client orientations and club activites, with CCL’s community partners in service of connecting community residents with CCL’s services.
