2017 Alliance to End Homelessness in Suburban Cook County

The Alliance to End Homelessness in Suburban Cook County is dedicated to ending Veteran and chronic homelessness this year. The Alliance is the lead organization in conducting a HUD Point-in-Time Count, which is used to identify a baseline of how many homeless persons are in our community. It will be the VISTA’s responsibility to lead the execution and organization of the Point in Time Count. In addition, the VISTA will help expand the FLOW project, which directly results in improving access to affordable housing in our community. The VISTA will also explore various funding opportunities for the Alliance through grants and foundations by supporting the work of the resource development committee. This position is a part of the Illinois Affordable Housing Support Project (IAHSP). The IAHSP aims to fight poverty and improve the lives of disadvantaged individuals by expanding and improving the availability of decent, affordable, accessible housing in Illinois. As part of the IAHSP VISTA program, members will receive professional development opportunities and gain tremendous experience in the nonprofit sector.
