Promoting Rural Community Food & Health Strategies

For over 25 years, The Conservation Fund’s Resourceful Communities program has supported a network of 500+ community organizations across North Carolina, working to achieve lasting economic, social justice and environmental impacts. Through our food- and health-related initiatives, we partner with grassroots community organizations to: promote more just food systems, increase healthy food access, develop projects to increase physical activity, and help faith communities address root causes of hunger. The goal of this VISTA project is to develop a North Carolina version of TryThisWV.com, a website dedicated to promoting hundreds of do-able, practical ideas to build healthier communities. In developing TryThisNC.org, VISTA members will research, identify and document successful community-led projects in rural North Carolina that are promoting community health. Members will also promote these projects at trainings and gatherings of our network community partners and help community partners replicate and/or adapt these projects.
