Wright County Community Action - Initiative Foundation

*Accepting applications on a rolling basis, so apply today!* Wright County Community Action's mission is "to prevent and resolve conditions of poverty in partnership with the community". We have a broad landscape of supportive services including: Head Start, Early Head Start, WIC, Energy Assistance, Home Weatherization, Foreclosure Prevention, Home Buyer Training, Transitional Housing, Home Rehab Loans, MNsure Navigation, Tax Preparation, Family Budgeting, Clothing Center, and Food Security programs. In our service area nearly 1,900 individuals are living in poverty, over 2,000 individuals who are food insecure, and nearly 1,500 children qualify for free or reduced school lunches. Despite the range of services we provide, there continues to be a need for additional supports in our community. Our VISTA will further develop, implement and evaluate our new programs to address food security - the Mobile Food Shelf and Emergency Food Boxes - as well as launch the new Senior Transportation Services program that will provide seniors transportation to and from medical appointments and food-related errands. This critical work will expand our capacity to support low-income individuals and seniors while providing a VISTA member with a tremendous opportunity to develop many new professional skills in a supportive environment.
