Employment Development Specialist- Better Futures- C3TC

Better Futures Minnesota (BFMN) is a bold nonprofit social enterprise creating change on three levels. First, we exist to support and fuel the aspirations of men who want to make changes in their lives. Second, we aim to change the policies that have locked these men out of the mainstream and locked them into a perpetual cycle of violence, dependency, unemployment, homelessness, and incarceration. Third, we work to change the practices that intentionally or unintentionally discriminate against them. The BFMN Integrated Care model is designed to respond immediately to participants' two most basic needs-safe, decent, affordable housing and a job. Once these basic needs are met, the value and impact of other services accelerates (health home, mental wellness, coaching, and trauma-informed care). Better Futures is the only organization in Minnesota providing a comprehensive, wrap-around service model of support to men newly released from prison. We were founded by a team of leading health care, housing, workforce, community corrections and human services providers, to provide expert services to at-risk men. Less than 10% of Better Futures participants return to prison - 60% lower than typical rates. **This position is part of the C3 Twin Cities VISTA Program. C3 Twin Cities offers a unique cohort experience rooted in a social justice framework. It also offers up to $200 of monthly housing support, transportation support and professional development opportunities. Check out www.c3twincities.org for more details.
