2017 HomeStart

The VISTA projects aligns with HomeStart’s mission to connect families with beneficial financial resources, and increases our ability to fight poverty in a number of important ways. Expanding our services and becoming a housing resource in our 10 county region is a key strategic goal for HomeStart. Eight of the ten counties we serve are primarily rural, but most of our emphasis has been on activities and projects in the two non-rural counties. Homestart would greatly benefit from a VISTA focused on how to creatively reach out to these audiences. This project aims to focus our outreach efforts with a particular emphasis within the underserved areas, and assist HomeStart in identifying other housing needs and gaps within the rural counties.
