VIP - Program Assistant (NDG)
 
 
 
This position is part of the VISTAs in the Piedmont (VIP) program sponsored by United Way of the Piedmont. Northside Development Group works in the Northside neighborhood of Spartanburg, SC to transform this highly distressed neighborhood into a world-class community of choice. You will help improve the financial stability and health of the Northside residents by matching needs of low income residents to community resources. You will also be developing programming for financial stability and family self-sufficiency, supporting case management programs, and assist in creating a cohesive neighborhood alliance. The VIP program offers a unique approach to VISTA service, as you will spend 10% of your time each week working collaboratively with 19 other VISTA members placed in the community to research and implement community-wide solutions focusing on either increasing access to behavioral healthcare or increasing financial stability.

Member Duties : VISTA will develop and implement community assets and needs surveys and analyze results. VISTA will create a workable plan for consistent contact with the Northside Community through outreach, social media, etc. VISTA will plan and implement financial stability outreach events and functions and develop assessment tools to measure effectiveness and community reception. VISTA will work with the case management team to define a format for a self-sufficiency plan and conduct pilot plans. VISTA will develop and implement a plan to increase volunteerism in the Northside.
