Summer Enrichment Specialist - Youth Achievement AmeriCorps
 
 
 
Each Youth Achievement AmeriCorps Summer Enrichment Specialist will serve with one of our summer partners: Kids on Course University, or Jane Boyd Achievement Academy. Kids on Course University encourages students to “Dream Big!” through academic and enrichment support throughout the summer in an effort to prevent summer learning loss. Summer Enrichment Specialist will serve at one of 6 Kids on Course University elementary sites (Arthur, Harrison, Madison, Taylor, Truman, or Wright). Kids on Course University is proven to stop summer learning loss! Students will learn from certified teachers in reading, writing and math while still having fun in a safe, supportive environment with friends! Members will be an integral part of that programming leading tutoring sessions, enrichment activities, and providing support in the classroom. Jane Boyd Achievement Academy strives to enhance the academic, emotional, and social well-being of children and families throughout the summer. Summer Enrichment Specialist will serve at one of Jane Boyd’s 3 summer sites (Jane Boyd Community House, Hawthorne Hills, and Cedar Valley) Jane Boyd believes all kids deserve the chance to achieve their dreams. At Jane Boyd Achievement Academy, kids find support to reach their goals – caring friends and adults, academic help, a safe environment, healthy food and fun activities.

Member Duties : Support summer programs to execute summer academic, enrichment, and engagement programming; Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions using literacy or math interventions; Provide classroom support and assistance; Plan and lead weekly themed enrichment activities; Greet students on and off the buses; Communicate with lead teachers and your site supervisor regarding student schedules, interventions and progress; Manage and recruit volunteers to assist in literacy interventions, read to children, pack and distribute weekend food bags, attend service projects, distribute books, manage free little libraries at sites, provide after school enrichment activities, and assist in STEAM projects; Support Cedar Rapids Public Library Summer DARE Program and reading library volunteers; Support staff in offsite engagement activities and events; Assist with organizing and implementing large events and service projects; Attend all site-sponsored activities and trainings
