VIP - Program Planning Coordinator (KNOW2)
This position is part of the VISTAs in the Piedmont (VIP) program sponsored by United Way of the Piedmont. KNOW(2) of Cherokee County is a grassroots, community-based organization that seeks to engage all citizens of Cherokee County to improve quality of life. You will work with a small but dynamic team to build coalitions between nonprofits, government entities, businesses, educational institutions, and individuals. You will improve services offered to low-income individuals, specifically around STEM education, by recruiting and training volunteer mentors. You will also work with the Talk to Me and Neighborhood Ambassador programs, evaluating and enhancing services. Your work will also involve expanding current Junior Achievement participation. You will recruit and work with an advisory panel to coordinate the Veterans Impact Project, improving services offered and integrating veterans and their families into the community. The VIP program offers a unique approach to VISTA service, as you will spend 10% of your time each week working collaboratively with 19 other VISTA members placed in the community to research and implement community-wide solutions focusing on either increasing access to behavioral healthcare or increasing financial stability.

Member Duties : VISTA will create and coordinate the Veterans Impact Project and establish an advisory group to increase awareness of services and recruit veterans as volunteers. VISTA will create and coordinate volunteer recruitment for Success Circles. VISTA will create and coordinate volunteer recruitment materials and processes for Talk to Me speaker's panel. VISTA will collaborate with Family & Youth Team to create and implement a process to expand the Neighborhood Ambassadors program to underrepresented populations. VISTA will research, identify, and implement best practices to expand STEM team, including building coalitions with local educational institutions. VISTA will identify and implement processes to expand network of Junior Achievement volunteers in order to increase financial literacy of area students. VISTA will have the opportunity to participate in event planning, Chamber of Commerce retreat, area conferences, and other activities as skills and interests permit.
