M:STL-EarthDance Outreach & Events Coordinator VISTA
 
 
 
EarthDance is a small non-profit organization focused on sustainable agriculture education. Founded in 2008, EarthDance is currently beginning its 9th season of operating an Organic Farming Apprenticeship Program – to grow more organic food and farmers for the region. In addition, EarthDance serves young people, particularly students in the Ferguson-Florissant School District through its YEAH (Youth Exploring Agriculture & Health) programming. EarthDance serves low-income individuals by offering scholarships to participate in this training program, and through our work with the Ferguson Florissant School District to provide job training, employment, and education to low-income district students, and through produce donations to food pantries.

Member Duties : The Outreach & Events Coordinator project will build EarthDance’s capacity to serve low-income individuals by establishing and refining protocol for operating various on-farm events at EarthDance; conducting outreach to build relationships with key Ferguson community members to increase community awareness of EarthDance's offerings; and developing training materials and recruiting and training community outreach volunteers to serve as "local food ambassadors" promoting EarthDance offerings and other facilators to healthy and local food culture in Ferguson, thus resulting in more low-income individuals benefitting from EarthDance's offerings, including youth education and employment, training for aspiring farmers and gardeners, and double value for SNAP users at the Ferguson Farmers Market.
