Famicos Foundation VISTA

To advance the work that Famicos Foundation is doing around youth employment, environmental advocacy and community development the AmeriCorps Vista Member will lead 3 specific projects: 1) lead and develop a year round curriculum to engage two local schools in urban farming education and skills development, 2) assist with the planning and execution of summer Glenville Youth Landscaping program to work with schools 3) reach out to institutional partners to help develop and lead programming partnerships, resources that support youth employment, engagement and environmental stewardship. This project will focus on connecting those three themes through the creation of a year round curriculum that will work to connect school and neighborhood engagement with the use of the Michael R. White community farm as not only a food source and work site but also as an educational tool. Through environmental education and stewardship we believe we can aid in more job creation for Glenville Youth.
