OSMRE WV HIVE Network
 
 
 
Established in 1988, the New River Gorge Regional Development Authority (NRGRDA) focuses on three primary aspects of development for the counties of Raleigh, Fayette, Summers, and Nicholas in West Virginia. The first of those is economic development. We stimulate the regional economy through business expansion and retention efforts, including an extensive portfolio of financial services, the management of sites for new companies locating to our region, and serving as a point of access for local service providers which offer a variety of technical assistance for business owners. The goal of the program is to provide information, services and tools to business and industry to support expansion and to create new jobs and investment. The second of those is community development. We acknowledge that healthy and vibrant communities create greater potential for economic development, therefore prioritize work that assists with beautification, strategic planning, historic preservation, capacity building, grant writing, non-profit management, tourism development and the advancement entrepreneurial activity. The last is a focus on stimulating regional initiatives and partnerships that increase capacity, diversify the economy, and inspire innovative solutions throughout the region. The WV HIVE Network, that this member will be supporting focuses acutely on growing a culture of entrepreneurship, bringing resources to current and future business owners, and increasing accessibility to those resources for displaced mine workers, or those distressed from other extractive industry retraction. Member Duties : This position is a unique opportunity to make a generational difference in the economy of rural America. Establishing a base of entrepreneurs, small businesses, and a culture that supports their contributions is the historic backbone of America, and that’s what this effort is all about. The person working toward this goal will focus their efforts on three primary aspects of HIVE operations. Firstly, they will assist in marketing and communication efforts. Secondly, they will assist with direct community outreach efforts. Lastly, they will assist with event production and attendee engagement. Each aspect of their duties will aid the overall function, efficiency, and effectiveness of the WV HIVE Network’s operations, thus developing a thriving, unique, and responsive market that will attract a stronger workforce, improve quality of life, and build a culture West Virginians’ can be proud of.
