2017-18 Volunteer Iowa:CASA Volunteer Recruitment Specialist

The Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program is a unique volunteer experience that aligns concerned citizens with abused and neglected children in their community.  CASA Advocates are ordinary people who have decided to volunteer their time and talents to ensure children who are already victims of abuse or neglect, are not further impacted by the system intended to protect them. The CASA Volunteer Recruitment Specialist will work with the Iowa Child Advocacy Board Local Coordinator and an internal recruitment team to implement recruitment practices to facilitate the Coach Model in rural areas in the State of Iowa. The VISTA member will help lead the effort to identify barriers to rural recruitment. Youth served in these communities will find permanency at home, and stability at school, from a diverse, well-trained volunteer structure. The VISTA member will be responsible for building a system that fights for educational and economic stability. The VISTA will serve as a part of Volunteer Iowa's Rural Development and Opioid AmeriCorps VISTA project. Volunteer Iowa is a state agency whose mission is to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering. VISTA members with our program have the benefit of a statewide support network of staff, Commissioners, National Service Programs, fellow AmeriCorps members and a VISTA Leader. Members receive ongoing training, support, networking and professional development opportunities.
