Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership VISTA

Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership (TNP) is a 501 c3 non-profit community development corporation with a stated mission to empower residents through programming and projects that improve the quality of life in the neighborhoods of Warren, Ohio. The vision of TNP is to work to transform neighborhoods into meaningful places where people invest their time, money and energy into their homes and neighborhoods; where neighbors have the capacity to manage day-to-day issues,and where neighbors feel confident about the future of their neighborhood. The AmeriCorps VISTA will work under TNP’s Garden Resources of Warren (GROW) program. TNP’s GROWProgram is a multi-faceted urban agriculture and local food program that supports efforts to mitigate the impact of food deserts. This is accomplished through technical support and leadership development for Warren's community gardens and food production sites, educational programming through the GROWing Health and Wellness Program, and the management of the Warren Farmers Markets.

Member Duties : The GROW AmeriCorps VISTA will work to build capacity of GROW’s already established programming and will be pivotal in the development of future programming and partnerships to expand the local food economy of Warren, Ohio. This will be done through community organizing and canvassing, social media, press releases, community events, one-on-one meetings with local leaders and organizations, and other creative methods. The ideal candidate will have a background in either community organizing, customer service, urban agriculture, or experience/education in a similar field. Applications should be able to provide reliable transportation and should be proficient in the use of email, internet research, and Microsoft Office products and should be able to communicate clearly both verbally and through writing.
