** MTCC Sunburst Unlimited, Inc. - Youth Veggie Market
 
 
 
The Youth Veggie Market of Sunburst Unlimited, Inc. in Great Falls, MT, grew out of a recognized need for local food sustainability - for the vitality of our environment and our communities. The current food system relies heavily on transporting food grown in distant environments, which results in fuel consumption and reliance on an unsustainable system. Instead, Sunburst teaches others how to grow food by nourishing what we have in our community and connecting with others who are doing the same. Sunburst Unlimited, Inc. grows fresh food for agencies like the Boys & Girls Club, Head Start, and Meals on Wheels. This project will support and increase food access for at-risk youth.

Member Duties : The Summer Associate will teach how to grow and care for a vegetable garden, composting, and vermiculture. The Summer Associate will teach youth how to prepare and serve a nutritious picnic lunch while modeling healthy social skills, food handling and recycling. The Summer Associate will work with the Boys & Girls Club in the Veggie Market Program, teaching the youth basic marketing skills. The Summer Associate will help the Garden Manager with all of the Garden projects in the Westside Orchard Garden: growing food, weeding, landscaping, making bokashi.
