** MTCC Helena Family YMCA -Summer Literacy Academy
 
 
 
The YMCA is the nation's largest provider of before and after school child care. In the state of Montana, the YMCA serves nearly 5,000 youth in communities such as Billings, Missoula, Helena, Butte, and Dillon. At the Helena Family YMCA, we offer after school care at Bryant Elementary, Helena Middle School, and East Helena schools. Our summer day camp program takes 60-80 campers per week on adventures to such places as the Lewis & Clark caverns, Museum of the Rockies, the Missouri Headwaters, and other Montana natural areas. The Y also offers on-site Drop-in Care for children 6 months to 8 years old, while their parents work-out. The Helena Family YMCA Summer Academy is a data driven YMCA of the USA summer learning loss prevention program with a strong focus on literacy and enrichment. The goal of this program is to provide access to academic and enrichment activities for Helena’s literacy challenged and economically disadvantaged youth.

Member Duties : The role of the Summer Member in the literacy portion of the day is to assist certified teachers in the implementation and facilitation of the reading curriculum. For enrichment activities, the role of the Summer Member is to assist the Site Director in the planning, implementation and facilitation of enrichment curriculum and activities including introducing skills in arts, music, physical activity, character development, STEM, nutrition education, and family engagement.
