** MTCC Missoula Community Access TV - Media Camps
 
 
 
Missoula Community Access Television (MCAT) provides Missoula residents and organizations with the equipment, training, and channel time to produce TV programs based on their interests and concerns. These programs reflect Missoula's cultural, political, and intellectual diversity, and help foster a community dialogue about people and issues that might otherwise go unnoticed. This Summer Associate project will provide education outlets for low-income youth to prevent summer learning loss for students in the Missoula area. MCAT offers 5 media camps each summer to teach low income youth the basic elements of video work--lighting, picture composition, sound and editing. The program is offered at a reduced cost or free to students depending on need.

Member Duties : MCAT Summer Associates will assist the summer camps in media production and media literacy for low income Missoula area middle school students this summer. The goal of the summer program is to give students a sense of teamwork, accomplishment, fun in learning, and exposure to media arts. Summer Associates will learn rudiments of camera operation, stop animation and editing from MCAT staff. Summer Associates will attend 3 summer camp training sessions and then participate as an assistant instructor in seven week-long, Monday through Friday, half day summer media camps that are hosted by MCAT for area middle school children.
